  • Buses Operating On Polluting Fuels Banned From Entering Delhi From Nov 2026

The order applies to all buses entering Delhi, including those operating under All India Tourist Permit, contract carriage, institutional and school bus permits, except those registered in Delhi.

No bus should be allowed to enter Delhi from November 1, 2026, unless it runs on clean fuel like CNG, electricity or the latest BS-VI diesel, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) directed on Wednesday.

The order applies to all buses entering Delhi, including those operating under All India Tourist Permit, contract carriage, institutional and school bus permits, except those registered in Delhi.

Old and polluting buses from other states add to Delhi’s air pollution. Even though cleaner fuel buses are now more common, many buses coming into the capital still use dirty fuel.

The commission had earlier told states including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir to switch to clean fuel buses by mid-2024 or early 2025. However, many did not comply in time.

From November 1, 2026, only CNG, electric or BS VI diesel buses will be allowed into Delhi, the CAQM said.

Delhi’s Transport Department and Traffic Police have been asked to ensure strict compliance of this direction using automatic number plate recognition system and RFID at border entry points.

Other state governments have also been told to inform all bus owners and companies about the new rule well in advance.

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Tuesday presented a comprehensive report highlighting key educational reforms introduced by the newly formed government in its first 100 days. Emphasising inclusive and quality education, the minister detailed a series of initiatives targeting students across various levels.

Highlighting efforts to boost higher education, Mr Sood said the government has released the first installment of Rs 274.34 crore as grant-in-aid to 12 Delhi University colleges. Additionally, Rs 19 crore has been directly transferred to the bank accounts of 1,300 students under the Delhi Higher Technical Education Support Scheme.

In a major push for competitive exam preparation, the government has launched free online coaching for NEET 2025 and CUET UG 2025 aspirants. Under the Madan Mohan Malviya Vidya Shakti Mission, 2,200 students will receive academic support, including coaching for JEE and other exams for 1,200 of them.

The minister announced that the Cabinet has approved the establishment of 75 new CM Shri Schools. Further, the government is set to digitise and upgrade 250 school libraries and install 100 AI-powered Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Language Labs for foreign language learning. Another 100 general language labs are being set up in government schools.

Under the Mukhyamantri Digital Education Scheme, 1,200 laptops will be distributed to meritorious students in September, he added.

Responding to the ongoing fee hike issue at Delhi Public School, the minister questioned the previous administration’s handling of the matter. “It’s a long-pending issue. • Delhi Minister Orders Officials To Clear Old Age Pension Cases In 15 Days

Delhi minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said he recently conducted surprise inspections at several district offices and interacted with beneficiaries, during which multiple complaints were received.

Delhi minister Ravinder Indraj Singh on Wednesday directed district social welfare officials to clear all pending cases under the Old Age Pension scheme within 15 days, an official statement said.

Chairing a meeting with officials of his department, the Social Welfare minister instructed them to ensure strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure timely delivery of benefits under various welfare schemes, the statement said.

Mr Singh said he recently conducted surprise inspections at several district offices and interacted with beneficiaries, during which multiple complaints were received.

“Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has clearly instructed that every citizen and beneficiary visiting district offices must be given full support. Applications should be processed within the set timeline and pension payments must be made on time,” he said.

Mr Singh also asked officials to expedite decisions on applications under the Family Assistance Scheme and other similar programmes, adding that most beneficiaries under pension and social welfare schemes come from economically weaker and marginalised communities.

“They should not be forced to visit offices repeatedly. District offices represent the government and people’s experiences at these centres must be positive and respectful,” he said.

The minister further said he will continue to conduct unannounced inspections at both district offices and the department’s headquarters.

Mr Singh asked senior officers to take strict action against any official found responsible for delays or negligence based on complaints.
